As we all know very well, our choice of accommodation during our holidays or work trips is of key importance. The choice of hotel is subjectively tied to a person’s plans for the stay, their personal needs and subjective priorities. In my humble opinion, as much as I love the service that comes with a full-on luxury hotel, there is a beautiful freedom in experiencing the hybrid convenience of a classy ‘Apart’hotel’ – serviced apartments serviced the hotel way! Citadines is the perfect embodiment of that cherished amalgamation and with its quality properties are handily sprinkled around various parts of London and several other countries in Europe including France, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands, it is doing a fantastic job on the continent. Owned by The Ascott Limited, a dynamic Singaporean real estate company, it has established itself within the key urban destinations of the continent. The South Kensington branch of Citadines reflects its core ideals – top location, luxurious yet homely rooms and suites and immaculate service when needed. It is an experience which suits me to a tee and will appeal to a lot of people who like to have the convenience of a full kitchen complete with a microwave/oven and cooker within the ample suite but also like the flexibility and service of a hotel.
The South Kensington apart’hotel joins a cast of other Citadines properties in London including those in Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Islington and Barbican adding up to quite an impressive portfolio. Being a resident of the Royal Borough already, it felt good to be staycationing in Kensington and Chelsea just a couple of kilometres away from my Notting Hill home. There is a choice of studio, deluxe studio and one bedroom apartments and the latter is a perfect springboard to enjoy your London holiday with family or stay in town on business in style and comfort. Barely a few moments walk away from both Gloucester Road and South Kensington tubes and nestled in the uber-exciting vicinity of the Natural History Museum, Royal Albert Hall,Science Museum and the V&A, the location could not be more exciting. The lobby at the South Kensington outpost is welcoming and the staff are super-friendly. There is a handy coffee machine in the corner and although there is no on-site restaurant, there are plenty of eating and drinking options along Gloucester Road. There is also a gym and laundry room for convenience.
The rooms are optimally designed, furnished and decorated to make the most out of the space in this posh part of London. The one-bedroom option is a duplex suite with a comfortable bedroom situated on the first floor and an ample living room with adjoining kitchen downstairs. The comfortable sofa folds out into an ample bed for the children in the family if needed. There is even a bathtub, dishwasher and a roomy refrigerator to make you feel entirely at home. The staff as aforementioned are lovely and will do anything to make you feel at home and help with the stay in any way that they can.
The overall feeling is one of homeliness. This being our beloved borough, there are plenty of cultural things to keep one busy and the bustling environs are loaded with several exciting options for food and drink. However, once you’ve done your bit in London for the day, you can rest assured that you’ll be retiring back to your lovely home-away-from-home at Citadines!!
