A Stylish Start: What Luxury Looks Like for Little Ones on Summer Getaways

There’s something irresistibly charming about tiny travel wardrobes, those miniature outfits and essentials that not only keep your child comfortable but elevate everyday parenting with a touch of style. Whether you’re jetting off to the coast or soaking up countryside calm, dressing your little one for the journey is as much about function as it is about flair. Here’s how a curated selection of beautifully designed pieces made my family’s summer holiday not just seamless, but effortlessly chic.

After a long morning of travel, there’s nothing sweeter than seeing your toddler step into holiday mode, especially in the Oscar Dungarees by Cute Couture (£36). With their nostalgic silhouette and just the right balance of playfulness and polish, they were our go-to for seaside lunches and strolls through the village. They’re a true limited gem: charming, comfortable, and utterly photo-worthy.

For beach rinse-offs, I couldn’t have loved the Puk Bath Poncho by Dear April at Soren’s House (£58.95) more. The embroidered moon and cat details add a dreamlike quality, while the soft terry towelling is gentle on sensitive skin. It’s part of our evening wind-down ritual and doubles perfectly as a post-swim wrap.

Of course, babies need a wardrobe as thoughtful as their older siblings’. The Playsuit in Blue Summer Stripe by Wheat (£34.95) for 3 months and the Erik Denim Stripe Overalls (£44.95) became our summer staples. They strike that rare balance of softness, durability, and timeless design—ideal for rolling around on a picnic blanket or sitting up for their first alfresco lunch.

For peaceful naps on the go, I relied on both the Snuz Sleeping Bag in White Star (£30) for my baby and the ergoPouch 2.5 tog Jersey Sleeping Bag (£51.95) for my toddler. The Snuz bag was perfect for daytime naps in warmer weather, while the ergoPouch with its sleeved design and generous 2.5 tog rating was our saviour on cooler evenings. I love that ergoPouch offers a full range of togs, making it easy to match your children’s sleepwear to the ever-changing summer climate.

Sun protection was non-negotiable, and we found the perfect balance of safety and style with Little Hotdog Watson’s Cub Hat in Pale Blue (£30). It’s lightweight, breathable, and comes with a handy neck flap. For our youngest traveller, the Adventurer Bucket Hat (£30) was a dreamy fit—soft enough for naps in the stroller, but structured enough to actually stay put. I also loved matching my kid’s hats, which was great for that good old family snap!

No matter the weather, we were ready thanks to the beautifully engineered Spotty Otter Insulated Splash Suit in Blue (£120). Rainy days didn’t dampen our plans and our toddler stayed warm and dry, whether it was puddle-jumping or unexpected sea mist. It’s an investment that pays off in comfort and durability.

Another investment in quality are the Eddie Ankle-High Hiking Boots (£86).  With a suede leather padded collar for extra comfort, bold check-woven laces, and an easy inside zip, Eddie brings outdoor cool to every outfit. The chunky, lightweight EVA sole is built for stomping, scrambling, and stylish exploring – without weighing them down. Whether it’s a countryside ramble or a city adventure, Eddie is the perfect blend of rugged charm and modern comfort.

To round things out, bath time felt indulgent and organised thanks to the Bathtime Bundle from Avery Row (£72). With its gentle textures and lovely selection of prints, it elevated our routine from basic to beautiful. It also made an ideal travel gift for new parents this summer.

For bedtime, I’m forever loyal to Blade&Rose whose zip-up rompers keep my boys cosy at night and me well-rested. My favourites are the Paddington™ Out and About Zip-Up Romper (£18) for my toddler and the Peter Rabbit™ Woodland Romper (£18) for my youngest, matching them in style and perfect for summer temperature fluctuations, with removable socks on the cuffs.

The Love to Dream Sleep Machine (£50) sends my littlies to sleep immediately after a busy day out and about. What I love about travelling with this one, is that on top of all of the usual sleep machine features, it has a soft night light and cry detection. The secure handle makes it east to take out in the day with me and then transfer it into the bedroom at night. I use it in combination with the Nanit travel bundle (£223.19) which is compact and functional, perfect for summer getaways. I love the extra features such as cry alerts and portability, making it really easy to take and install in various hotel rooms. The fact that it pairs with my phone is another feature making it perfect for easy getaways, without the need to bulky camera monitors taking up precious suitcase space.

In the end, travelling with little ones is rarely without chaos—but choosing the right pieces makes all the difference. These beautifully crafted essentials didn’t just simplify our journey—they turned the everyday moments into something a little more magical. And isn’t that what luxury is really about?
