Sirru Fen Fushi, Maldives ‘Secret Water Island’ Review

In the heart of the Indian Ocean, where the crystal-clear waters of Shaviyani Atoll meet pristine beaches and lush landscapes, lies Sirru Fen Fushi. This all-villa resort, previously known under the Fairmont brand, offers a haven of tranquillity and luxury, rebranded to reflect its new independent identity. The name “Sirru Fen Fushi” translates to “Secret Water Island,” perfectly encapsulating the essence of this secluded paradise.

The journey to this idyllic retreat begins with a 55-minute seaplane ride from Malé, providing stunning aerial views of the Maldives’ iconic atolls and turquoise waters. As the seaplane descends, you catch sight of the resort’s pristine beaches and verdant landscapes, setting the tone for an unforgettable escape.

This is quite a long, narrow and large island with particularly stunning beaches and very pretty, tropical flower filled pathways.    It’s also famous for its unique underwater art installation which lights up at night, and fantastic main pool which runs from one side of the island to the other and is one of the largest and longest in the Maldives.

Upon arrival, the warm welcome from the resort’s staff, combined with the seamless check-in process, ensures that your experience starts on a high note.

Luxurious Accommodation

Sirru Fen Fushi offers 120 luxurious villas, each designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings while providing the utmost in comfort and sophistication. The resort’s accommodations include:

Beach Villas are nestled within the island’s lush vegetation, offering a private sanctuary with direct beach access. Large glass doors open onto private sundecks, complete with plunge pools and cabanas, creating an intimate space for relaxation.

Water Villas, bright, airy and spacious, are perched over the tranquil lagoon, provide breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. Each features a large sundeck, large private pool, and shaded cabana  – perfect for relaxing in to escape the heat of the day.   Unusually, the pool is surrounded by a deck area which has a sand covering – so you can almost experience the best of both worlds – experience a kind of sandy beach whilst being perched over the ocean!

There are even unusual Tented Jungle Villas, tucked into the rainforest, which promise complete privacy. Each comes with an outdoor dining area, private pool, and sala, offering a unique blend of adventure and luxury.

Every villa is elegantly furnished with natural materials and contemporary design elements, including stone floors, textured white walls, and turquoise carved wooden doors. Personalised services from a dedicated butler enhance the experience, ensuring that every need is met with care and attention.
