There is a little gem in our corner of London snuggled between world class museums and less than a minute’s walk from South Kensington tube. A bit like being hidden in plain sight, Shilpa Dandekar’s Pravaas sits inconspicuously on Glendower Place – although just off Old Brompton Road – and pulls inspiration from the entirety of India’s vast estate while adding her own unique touch to her delectably bespoke dishes. We apprised you of this masterpiece when it first debuted a couple of years back and it has just recently been featured in the Michelin Guide 2025. Now we’d like to ‘re-urge’ all modern Indian food fans to heed this second klaxon call and savour the glory that is Pravaas. Its wonderfully duplicitous in that it boasts sophisticated, contemporary interiors and clean, elegant design but it’s also wonderfully relaxed just like your beloved local. We arrived to experience the festive menu at lunch on a Tuesday in wintry November and it seemed to be full of local regulars and curious passer-bys. Pravaas’s culinary concept is built around an adventure fuelled by Shilpa’s unyielding passion for and desire to explore diverse cooking styles, a dedication that shapes it’s off-the-beaten-path menu of exceptional dishes that showcase her finesse, balance, and creativity.

We arribed for the the festive menu, which is available till Christmas and is a must-try to the Pravaas-uninitiated! Priced reasonably at £58.00 per person complete with the option of mulled wine constructed from the base of famed Indian wine house Grovers, it starts off delightfully with Brie & Poha Pakora – a festive mix of the famed cheese, chilli, cranberries rolled in flattened Indian rice (poha)nd fried with tamarind & chilli chutney. Duck Liver Pithivier and Tandoori Salmon keep the senses buzzing before the baton on to the marauding main of Tandoori pheasant breast served with mince roulade, pheasant jus, Brussel sprouts and chestnut Porial all served with some Butter or Garlic naan OR tandoori roti. Two simple desserts bring the cracker of a meal to a sweet stop: Stuffed Puffs & Chocolate Cream and a sumptuous version of the Indian staple Gulab Jamun
If you’re not feeling particularly festive, try the plethora of Signature dishes in the menu which include Patra chaat, Lamb Galouti Kebab, Sundried Tomatoes & Red Chilli Tandoori Chicken, Venison Dalcha, Red Snapper & Palourde Moilee. Pravaas has omething for everyone. Most admirably helmed on the front end by Faheem, Shilpa’s husband and business partner, the Pravaas team will make sure you leave the cosy diner beaming from ear to ear.
